How can I stop my PC from installing the same update (KB954430) repeatedly? It has done that 9 times for the past 4 days already. Each time I turn off my PC, that installation will start.

Microsoft documented them here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954430/ You can try this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729/ Or just install the update manualy from the microsoft download site(http://download.microsoft.com) as suggested in the KB article.
