KB937287 does not install correctly
Hello, after accessing Windows Update on my Vista Ultimate x64 system, I found multiple updates. In the first pass, all updates but KB937287 installed (it gave an error: 80070BC9). Upon rebooting, I tried to install the KB again. The prompt says that it succeeded. However, when I tried searching for updates again, the KB937287 was found again! I installed, it said success, and after many trials, it still keeps coming back. Can somebody help me solve this issue? I know that the update is essential for SP1 installation, and I definitely want that functionality. Edit: the KB is not found in the installed updates section.

I get the same problem. Only thing I can think of is that it is somehow related to my install and subsequents uninstall of Vista RC1....but that is just a theory and I have not found any info/solution on the web yet.....

However, I have not installed SP1 beta or release candidates before. I cannot find a standalone installer, and the issue is perplexing. Any help ?

I'm experiencing the same issue. I also have never installed a Beta or RC version of SP1.

Okay, I found a resolution that worked for me: http://www.vistax64.com/vista-installation-setup/130677-kb937287-keeps-showing-up-my-64-bit-vista-ue-3.html It suggested that I download and install the KB937287 manually. The direct link to the Microsoft download page is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=&freetext=KB937287&DisplayLang=en Just choose the regular or 64-bit version. Once installed successfully, it didn't show up again in Windows Update.

thank you for finding the standalone installer! One thing that I noticed while using WUpdate was that the file was only 18kb large. I will try the file and hopefully it will work! Update: success! the standalone installer worked wonders.

Same issues here, initialy windows update installed a group of updates and this one failed, then after rebooting it downloads this update as 18KB and keeps doing so for every reboot. manual install seams to fix the issue. I'm on a Danish 64x Primium.

Same happens to me. After it failed with the already mentioned error code (WindowsUpdate_80070BC9) Itried more then 8 times to install. Always says it is installed correctly, but doesn't show up in installed updates and comes back up to be installed after a while.

The workaround through the manually download (see url's a few post above) worked fine for my Vista 64 bit as well . Thanks for the tip SH1979.

I had to manually download and install KB937287, KB938371 and KB943899 to come out from unsuccessful automatic update You can search and download updates here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?displaylang=en

This seems to have worked. Like many others, I went through several attempts prior to this one, which did not work. All failed. Others in other forums were told the install was good, but then rebooted and still had an update message for it.So. I am going to now re-boot, and then come back with the results. I set a bookmark to bring me right back here..O.K. ten minutes later, and yes!! It worked, and thank you so much.It boggles the mind how these guys- and I love Microsoft- how thses guys think that they can get away with this stuff, that a thing like this update is a MUST, and then, why it is a bust!!See Ya next time.
