KB2541014 disables sleep & hibernation
After installing KB2541014 my computer (Lenovo Thinkpad running Win7 Ultimate) refused to sleep, hybrid sleep, or hibernate. It would shut down as usual, but restart moments later. It looks like this update was supposed to cure this problem, but in my case it did the opposite. Following troubleshooting advice in another forum I tried disabling hybrid sleep in Power Options, but that didn't help. I finally rolled back to a restore point before the update and the problem went away. I wonder whether the problem is due to my not being on Win 7 SP 1. I've been unable to install KB976932-- it kills my ability to connect to the Internet (see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/eed44107-d44b-4ce6-8c3c-9b123303920a). Anyone else having this problem with KB2541014? Robert

I just tried hibernate and sleep on my Gateway laptop, and they both work as they should. But then, I have SP1 already installed. Have you uninstalled KB2541014 and tested it again? That may be the way to go until you get SP1 installed and working right. SC Tom

I did try just uninstalling KB2541014and that didn't fix the problem. I rolled back to an earlier restore point and that fixed the problem. The only other updates I installed that day were a network driver update from Intel and a Windows Defender definition update. Since KB2541014 is supposed to fix hibernation issues it seems like the culprit, but I'm going to install the other 2 updates one by one and see if they cause the problem.
