Please, what is "phantom" Juniper Network Connect Virtual Adapter?

I attempted to get Network Connect to work with Windows 8.1 following as much as possible Clark's suggestion (the shorter version); Network Connect got installed but I immediately got disconnected with the same message ncwondows.app 23712.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  I have windows 8.1 pro with media and the network connect is version 7.1.0

It should be compatibility issue with Juniper. You can refer to the steps provided by this similar threads:
