Hello

     I'm very new in this world of what goes on behind the curtain of the computer. My vocabulary of "techese" is limited. So my question(s) is this. Can I repair my jet data base and MDAC within a clean install of 8.1 pro on a seven year old machine that was set up for Vista? I'm running an Nvidia graphics card, GeForce 8800 GTX. I'm told 8.1 wiped out my motherboards chipset and had it not been for the graphics card my computer would be eating dirt. Is this true? I recently installed new memory, 8GB up from 2GB if that info helps with my question. I'm standing here in the dark.
