Jet 4 Provider for 64-bit version
Could the Jet 4 Provider be added to the 64-bit Version? Enterprise Server has this for legacy purposes, andit would be great for all the 64-bit systems to include it, also. Broke my heart after installing Vista x64 to find I can't developweb applications againstan Access database (I have no choice) and had to back down toVista x86. Wanting to move to SQL Server is great, but in some cases, not possible. Thanks.

Instead of having to change OSes, you can always run a Virtual Machine to get around problems like this.

Yeah, thought so too, but (a) the TechNet notes on how to enable Jet 4.0 failes - not all of the dll's are included in the -XP or -Vista packages, and (b) the perforamnce hit on IIS with simple HTML was unrealistic. 99% of what I do withthis machine is web application development, andwhile the X64 versions are IMHO far superior to the X86 versions, if they don't supportthe primary function for the computer, it didn't make sense to hang in with them. Since there is an X64 version of the Jet provider, it could and should beincluded as part oftheX64 editionsof the other newOSes. But thank you.

MS has said many years ago that they would never release a 64-bit version of JET.That said, you can use JET 4.0from 32-bit applications on a 64-bit OS, JET is a desktop product used for Office product like Access and these are still 32-bit applications.
