I want to use BitLocker on my 64-bit system, but there seems to be a issue when i seem to enable it and use it. For some reason whenever BitLocker Drive Encryption is turned on my tablet PC will not turn off. it just goes to the shut down screen, the screen goes blank and stops, but does not power off. eve after 5 minutes. why does it do this? is it ebcrypting, decryping, or checking the drive or something? because the startup times are still normal.... In order to get my PC to shutdown normally i cannot use BitLocker Drive Encryption at all. can someone please help me figure out what id causing this issue so that i can fix it and possibly use BitLocker Drive Encryption again.

It can take a very long time, several hours, to finish encrypting the drive. the larger the drive is, the longer it takes.My 120 GB external drive took several hours.

I know that. the drive did get done encrypting. its just that after my laptop's hard drive got encrypted, it had issues shutting down. do you guys have any ideas of why that it. this never happened in vista....

Steven,We are having the same problem with Windows 7 Enterprise. I found this thread with a few more people having the same problem. We are working with Microsoftnow to find out what the deal is.
