Issue with Netgear router. Vista
The other night there was a thunderstorm and the power went off and on twice. When I turned on the PC the next day, I noticed that the internet was not working anymore. I told myself that it was no problem, I would just unplug the router and plug it back in because that works all the time. Well I did that and no luck this time. I then tried to turn off the cable modem and router, waited a few seconds, plugged the modem back in and waited for it to load up then the router. That still did not fix it. I did this several times thinking I did it wrong but it still does not work. I then plugged the ethernet wire right into the modem and it works no problem but I have two other PCs and a PS3 that I need the router for. I called the internet provider and there was nothing they could do so they told me to call Netgear. I did that and netgear couldn't help either and said that my PC was fryed and could not access internet. Well that was a lie because my PC is not fryed and has no issue getting into the internet when I directly connect it to the internet modem. I checked all the wires and they seem to work... Uhmm... I'm not sure what else to do. The router works I think because all the correct lights are on. Is there some special trick I should know about to get this working? Please any help would be great.

Hi Adrian, It looks like the router is the issue this because when you connect the modem directly to your pc everything works OK. If your router has several ethernet-ports try another ethernet port else replace the router. Regards, Johan my website: http://www.johanveldhuis.nl

Hi, I agree with Johan. According to your description, it seems your router problem. I suggest you reset the router and re-configure it to test this issue. Do you have another known router? If possible, you can try to troubleshoot this issue by that router. Thanks.
