Issue re user access to webdav subfolder even though user have no permission to parent folder
Hi, are you aware of the WebDAV client issue below that was found and corrected in Windows XP and now reappeares in windows 7?In many scenarios access to parent folder may be more restricted than some of the sub-folders. For example a user may not have access to the the Finance folder but may be granted access to the subfolder TravelCosts somewhere below Finance. We have a pretty static setup that we have used for a long time with no problems to XP clients, but with Windows 7 we get the error: "cannot find finance/travelcosts make sure the path or internet address is correct". In XP we mapped to https://server/rootfolder but when we attempt to do the same in windows 7 we get the error "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid". In Windows 7 we instead are mapping a network connection to \\server@ssl\rootfolder. Should it be https://server or \\server@ssl ? ... is https://server obsolete? or are we talking about two different issues?Very thankful for any help...Best regardsSven Andersen

Hi Sven, Please try the following: 1) Click Start and click Computer. 2) Click Map network drive. 3) Click the link “Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures”, then click next 4) Click Choose a custom network location 5) Enter your WebDAV URL 6) Click next 7) Enter your user name and password when prompted. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
