Issue installing hotfix for KB2434932 on SP1 computers
We have what appears to be the issue as outlined in hotfix KB2434932. This hotfix updates the files csc.dll, Cscmig.dll, and Rdbss.sys files to version 6.1.7600.20851. On our computers, these files are curently using an older version 6.1.7601.17514 of these files. All of our computers use Windows 7 professional 64 bit. On computers WITHOUT Windows7 SP1 installed that hotfix installs without a problem and properly updates the 3 files. However, on our computers that have W7 SP1 installed it says the update is not applicatble to my computer. This would be fine if the hotfix was truly included in SP1, but it does not. The files in question are still at version 6.1.7601.17514. So what is the best solution? Can I just copy the 3 files over manually? or does the hotfix make some other updates to the system?

Hello, it is mentioned that it is included in SP1. Please run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r /f and also install the System Update Readiness tool for Windows 7. Once done, download the hotfix and try again. But, like I told you, it is mentioned that it is included in SP1. Thank you for your assistance. I ran the 'sfc /scannow" command and it said that it did not find any integrity violations on either of the computers I am testing this on. I ran the "chkdsk /r /f" and no problems were found. I then installed the System Update Readiness tool for Windows 7 and tried reinstalling the hotfix (using both the copy I already had and also redownloaded from the link you provided). The hotfix still will not apply and the 3 files in question are still the wrong version numbers. These steps were done on two different computers. The hotfix installed fine on two computers that do not yet have SP1 installed. Yes, i see that this hotfix is supposed to be included in SP1. So why didn't SP1 update the files in question to a newer version? Any ideas on how to do so in a correct fashion without rolling back SP1, installing the hotfix and reinstalling SP1? On one of the systems I am using for testing, I rolled back SP1 and then installed the patch. The patch installed fine and I have not been able to reproduce the problem in my first several attempts to do so. I really would prefer a solution that did not involve uninstalling SP1, expecially since the person most affected has SP1 installed on their computer and I prefer not to roll back updates - You never know what might get broken in the process.

Hi, The files are latest version on the computers which have SP1 installed. So you cannot update these files to an earlier version. Please do not try to apply this Hotfix. It has already included in the SP1. The good news is that the computers that have the hotfix installed have NOT had the issue reoccur. The bad new is that the computers with SP1 installed without having the hotfix installed first are still having the issue occur. If the patch was properly included in SP1, I would expect to not be able to reproduce the problem on SP1 computers (but I can). I would also expect the 3 files that are supposed to be updated by the patch to have been updated to version 6.1.7600.20851 or newer. These files were not modified by SP1. It looks to me like the patch was SUPPOSED to be included in SP1, but that the files were never properly included within the service pack.

Hi, The KB2434932 is included in SP1, you may download the updates list and check it. If you have already applied SP1, but the issue still reoccur. I am afraid that your issue falls into the paid support category which requires a more in-depth level of support.
