Issue Moving/Copying Files Using Windows Explorer
I am trying out Windows 7 without having much experience under the hood with Vista, so I may be asking about something that may be really simple...sorry.When I am using Windows Explorer to move or copy files, Ifind that when ever I move a file from one directory to another, with the intent of overwriting an existing file of the same name, I do not get thedialog giving me the option tooverwritethe existing file. What happens is that the file is moved into the directory with word "copy" added to the file name, thus not overwriting the intended file.Is there a settingthat I can change in Windows Explorer that is preventing me from overwriting files. (BTW, these are not system directories that I am playing around with.)Thanks,Dave

This is a known bug and has been discussed in other threads.

Default Cut or Copy and Paste in Windows 7.If you cut or copy a file, from any location, and then paste it to any otherlocation, where a file with the same name exists, then you should see the popup with the 3 options to either Copy and Replace, Don't copy, or Copy but keep both files.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

In other words, the workaround for the drag and drop bug is right the click the file(s) andselect cut or copy. Right click the destination folder and select paste. Then you will get the popup dialog.I think this also works when you right click, drag and drop.
