Issue: why do menu commands stop responding?
I am using a 3yr old Lenovo Laptop running Vista. The machine boots ok and runs fine for 5 mins - then everything stops.I can move the mouse onto a menu command or a window control icon and click and nothing happens - no change in button colour, no recognition of the click command and no response to anything - it's as though the OS simply stops responding to everything. The only way to get out of this is to power down on the main power button and restart. All updates are in place: no viruses exist - very few programmes are installed (just the usual office, itunes, camera software, etc.,).Any suggestions to a resolution path are welcomed

Hello RobPep,Do you have any errors in the event viewer?Check the application and system event logs. To open Event Viewer, follow these steps:Click Start, and then click Control Panel. ClickPerformance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-clickComputer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in.In the console tree, click Event Viewer. The Application, Security, and System logs are displayed in the Event Viewer window. If there are no errors in the event log, then you might want to go to the Lenovo website and see if there are any diagnostic tests you can run.The computer may be hearing up or have dust. You may want to take to a computer repair shop for help. Thanks,Marilyn Microsoft Answers Support Engineer Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think
