Iso mounting software like daemon tools for mounting cd/dvds; 3rd party software will corrupt the registry.
Hi is it possible to install a disk image mounter for windows 7 like daemon tools? I am wondering if their is any way to mount iso images on windows 7. I don't have cd drive on a netbook , and I was wondering if windows 7 has a disk image mounter to mount iso images without a cd drive like mac osx, linux.I tried installing 3rd party vista drivers like daemon tools, ultra iso, and magic iso.foriso mounting softwarebut I ended about corrupting the entire windows 7 installation, making impossible to use anything inside of windows 7 causing it to have software crashes with explorer, internet explorer, adobe reader, system recovery failed. I had reinstallign windows 7 and I am just wondering if windows 7 has disk image mounting tool. It sure would be great if Windows 7 will have/has this feature because it saves lots of battery life on my eeepc 904ha in windows xp.

HiNo. W7 is not capable to mountCD/DVD image files. You still need additional 3rd party tools if you want to mountCD/DVD imagefiles

If you have sufficient drive space, you can extract the image using a tool such as 7zip or IsoBuster.

The following Programs may help you:Daemon Tools 4.10Virtual Clone DriveWinMountThese programs is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7.There's something else I'd like to tell you:Daemon Tools 4.10 is just available in Windows 7, which means it may cause some problems. And it has not been known that it will run on all the computers.Virtual Clone Drive can run perfectly, but DO REMEMBER that it doesn't have some features of Daemon Tools, especially the features for Games. WinMount is not well developed yet, which means sometimes it crashes, and it is just kind of hard to use for the beginners. The software is designed by Chinese, so I'm not sure there's an English version.

I tested Daemon Tools. That was a desaster and I was obliged to restore at a previous point. The beta version of Vitual Clone Drive works fine on Seven.http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Virtual-CD-DVD-Rom/Virtual-CloneDrive.shtmlPhantom CD also works but the unstall leaves traces in the registry ans does not uninstall Visual C++ 2005.Aski. There are various tools available for mounting ISOs on Windows 7, some mentioned here but Microsoft discourages moderators from naming specific third party tools. If I were you I'd try this Live Search. For what it's worth (and this is not a recommendation from Microsoft)I've had some success with Slysoft Virtual Clone Drive but I think it may have also caused me some issues. Some people have suggested Pismo File Mount works OK. Daemon Tools won't install though. You might also findthis thread useful.Mark Wilson (MVP Virtual Machine) - http://www.markwilson.co.uk/blog/

I totally agree with Mark.I think several issues were caused by my first test with Virtual Clone Drive. On the other hand, I have not been subjected to any issue since I use Virtual Clone Drive Beta.Aski. MVP Desktop Experience
