Is windows 7 supposed to be discoverable by xp?
Is windows 7 supposed to be undiscoverable on a network by xp? Because as soon as i upgraded i can't find xp computers over my network and xp computers can't find my laptop w/ windows 7 over the network. is there something i'm not doing right?

Make sure that the Network Location is either set to Home or Work. If you have it set to public, your Windows 7 box will undiscoverable. Also, look at Advanced Sharing settings (type "sharing" at the start menu search dialog box, and click Change advanced sharing settings to the left). Under the Home or Work settings group, ensure that the Turn on network discovery option is enabled.

I would have suggested the same thing, because even w/ the network location set to home or work, if you're not set to be discoverable, than you still can't be found on the network.T-Zero.System: E-Max Intel 945GC-M2, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 4Gb Ram, Nvidia 9300 512Mb, LG BD Burner, 2x 500Gb HD, Sony Bravia, Windows 7 Beta 7000 x86 and x64.
