Is there any way to force a game to create a registry entry when you install it?
I really enjoy Call Of Juarez - Bound in Blood and it plays great in my windows 7 64 bit computer. The problem is when I try to update it with a patch (ver 1.1), the patch cannot find a registry entry for the game, so it tells me to install the game first, then update. I have checked the registry and there is no entry for the game, is there a way to add one? The game is installed and works fine, but I need to install this patch to play more maps. Any suggestions?

HiAdding keys to the Windows Registry would be a function of the installation program for the game. If you have installed the game software and the registry keys are not being created properly, you need to contact the game developer for help.Hope this helps. I'm guessing that the game is not really compatible with Windows 7 and during the install some registry writes got redirected to the virtual registry. Try reinstalling the game, then the patch, with UAC off. You should turn it back on when finished. You could also try various compatibility settings. Right click on the installation program and try different settings on the Compatibility tab.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience
