Is there an Extended File Properties guide?
When the user selects the Details view of a folder full of digital images there are optional Extended File Properties that can be enabled. Is there a document that explains what each of these options represent? In Vista (and I assume Windows 7) we find: Date, Date Taken, Date Modified, Date Last saved, Date Archived, Date Acquired, Date Completed, Date Received, Date Released , Date Sent, Date Visited Are these something that Microsoft created on its own, or is it part of a standard? For example, I searched the EXIF documents I have available (2.1, 2.2 JEIDA standards) and find no mention of Archived nor Acquired. I teach and a student asked me this question, so I'm looking for an answer. Specifically: What does the "Date Acquired" field refer to and when might we ever see it used? Thanks, Russell

Hi , Base on my knowledge, there is no such guide. Exchangeable image file format (Exif) is a standard that specifies the formats for images, sound, and ancillary tags used by digital cameras (including smartphones), scanners and other systems handling image and sound files recorded by digital cameras. Exif was created by the Japan Electronic Industries Development Association (JEIDA). Version 2.1 of the specification is dated June 12, 1998, and the latest, version 2.3 dated April 2010, was jointly formulated by JEITA and CIPA. Though the specification is not currently maintained by any industry or standards organization, almost all camera manufacturers make use of it.
