Is there a way to install HP Deskjet F4180 software
I am evaluating 32bit on mynotebook, and I can't get the software to install for my HP DeskjetF4180 printer. I have all the drivers and it will do basic functions such as print, but I would like to have the hp software on there aswell. I also have 64bit on my desktop and that one won't even recognise the printer. It shows all drivers except one are signed. Any ideas? The hp software is on the desktop but it was installed prior to the upgrade to windows 7. The hp software said there are no HP devices found...Thanks

The first problem is that you performed and upgrade install. Win 7 RC should have been a clean install.Anyway, uninstall the printer from the system. If you download the Vistafull feature softwarefor the correct OS 32 or 64-bit and right click on the .exe file and install in Vista compatibility mode that may help.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3177566&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20 I noticed some of the HP driver updates addressed connectivity issues. Report back, you'll get some help if this doesn't work.

Thanks for the quick response, I thought I read if I had vista I could use the upgrade option to windows 7, but if it was beta or XP it had to be a clean install. I didn't try installing the HPvista software in compatability mode. I will try that and post back. Thanks again . windows 7 stilll blows vista out of the water in any case.

The "Run as" or compatibility mode didn't work either. still said it is the wrong operating system. and stops the install. I may have done it wrong I have the install cd for win vista, I opened the files and selected the application extension to compatibility mode.

Please right-click on the installation file and choose "Properties", click the tab "Compatibility", and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for". In the drop-down menu select "Windows Vista". If it is still not installed, I am afraid that the program will not be installed in Windows 7 RC.Arthur Xie - MSFT
