Is there a way to inactivate the logoff button default on the start menu when the other (other-than-on) modes are deactivated?
I’m trying to find a solution that will allow my computers to remain on through-out the day. I do not want my patrons to have the option to logoff, switch users, lock, shutdown, restart, sleep, and hibernate. I ‘m using windows server 2008 GPO in which I run a scheduled task at the end of the day to shut them down. I have been successful in disabling all those commands on the Start Menu except “logoff” through GOP, registry, or the start menu properties. There appears that Windows 7 Professional OS has a default to leave the logoff button active (even if LogOn deactivated through the GPO or registry) if all other means to change the computer’s status from being on is deactivated. Is there a way to inactivate the logon button default so the logoff button on the start menu is deactivated or gone?

You need a third party tool. Something for kiosk computers customization. Try a search in that direction with the kiosk customization windows as keywords, extrapolate from those. Please do not forget to select the best answer if it helps you! Thanks Lonewolf79 for the reply, but I was hoping I didn’t need a third party tool, but that there was Windows 7 fix or through my Windows Server 2008. I was able to deactivate the logoff button, but when I enable “Remove and prevent access to the shutdown, restart, sleep, and hibernate” in GPO the logoff reactivates. I’m looking for a solution to keep the logoff button from reactivating. Steve NM
