Is it possible to host an L2TP/IPSEC VPN Server on Windows?
Hey there, I was directed here by someone named "Mounwarshar" who said that I had posted this question in the wrong area. Hopefully someone here has a better idea than over there. I am aware that you can host a PPTP VPN, but does anyone know how to set up an L2TP/IPSEC VPN? If not, is there third party software that can help achieve this goal? Thanks. - 2 Bunny

Hi, In fact, this question is related to Server rather than Client. But I can still give you some materials for your reference. Virtual Private Networks http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/network/bb545442 Installing and configuring an L2TP server. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc776733(WS.10).aspxPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. It told how to host a PPTP VPN, but I'm trying to host an L2TP/IPSEC VPN. The Second link wasn't incredibly helpful because I am running Windows 7, not Server 2003. The information didn't seem to be "cross platform". - 2 Bunny

Hi, Based on my understanding, if you want to build a VPN server, it should be built in a server operation system unless you use some 3rd party tools. So it is impossible to host an L2TP/IPSEC VPN Server via build-in features on Windows 7. Thanks. I'm just looking for some third party software that could accomplish this. I'm sure its possible. We can do it with PPTP; why couldn't IPSEC/L2TP be done via third party software? - 2 Bunny
