Is it possible to create a shortcut to a dial up network connection in Win 7?
In the past you could simply drag a connection from the networking folder to the desktop to create a shortcut and keep prying fingers out of the networking folder where they might be tempted to fiddle. Is it possible to create a shortcut to initiate a dial up networking connection from Windows 7 as the new connect-to box doesn't appear to support drag to desktop and doesn't have a "create a shortcut" icon on the right click menu?Suggestions warmly appreciated!

Yes this is possible. If you click Change adapter settings in the left panel of the Network and Sharing Center, you will see the VPN connection displayed as a network adapter. When you right click the VPN adapter you will the the option Create Shortcut.Ray

oh and i want that bunch of connections too any chance to create a short cut for that control panel view? Its easy, just make a New Shortcut on desktop, and enter "control ncpa.cpl" as target without qoutes, and give the shortcut any name you wish..
