Is it possible to choose certificate for EFS ?
Hi folks. I have a small question. I recently bought new portable hdd and I would like to protect files on him with EFS. Encrypt everything with EFS, export certificate with private key protected by strong password and save it on this hdd (this key will not be encrypted). After I connect this hdd to another computer (not that which was used for EFS encryption and certificate export), I would like to import this certificate, read data, and after I disconnect hdd, I will delete this certificate from computer`s personal store.... My problem is, if I will save something from this foreign computer to my hdd, I would like to also encrypt this data with EFS using my certificate, not currently logged on user`s certificate on this foreign computer. So, is there any chance how to direct Windows to use the right (mine) certificate for EFS ? My computer is stand-alone notebook (not an AD member). We are talking here only about self-signed certificate, not from CA. Thank you ;)
