Is it normal to need Bit locker key on boot up after power loss on laptop.
I have a user who lets their laptop loose power during sleep or hibernate. The laptop on boot then requires the bitlocker key. Normally it doesn't need this if it stays powered up. This person is an outside sales man, so it can be difficult to give them this key. keeping a paper copy with the laptop isn't an option and defeats the purpose of bit locker. Is this normal behavior for bitlocker? , Kristofer Olafsson

From my experience that is not normal behavior. I have performed a hard shut down on machines running Bitlocker and have not been prompted for the keyPLEASE MARK ANY ANSWERS TO HELP OTHERS Blog: rorymon.com Twitter: @Rorymon

hmm. it appears that laptop loosing power is the reason. it's listed as one of the triggers. I guess I have to tell them not to do that... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee449438(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_examplesosrec -Removing, inserting, or completely depleting the charge on a smart battery on a portable computer. , Kristofer Olafsson

Hi, Yep, as the document says this will cause Windows to enter Recovery Mode. This behavior varies on different boxes. I will mark your reply.
