Is Win7 (32-Bit) More Sensitive to Network Traffic?
My organization is slowly rolling out Win7 to select users (yes, as a "power user" I volunteered) when new leases come up. [HP Pentium Dual-core E6300 (2.8GHz), 4GB, Windows7 Enterprise, 100Mbps wired network connection] I have had it for over a week now and what I have noticed is that Win7 seems to loose connection to organization's intranet (internet connection not impacted to date) at very inopportune times: 1. In the midst of running an Access07 database process, it seems to time out causing the database to error out and tell me I need to restart the database. NOT GOOD at all. - This loss of connection can also occur when a database window is open/idle but no processing is happening. If this happens, database looses all association with itself and requires closing & restarting. Any info/data not save in a record/table is lost. 2. In network folders, where I am one of the "owners", I cannot create copies of files, regardless of size (large or small), without creating one of these loss in connection resulting in copy failure and errors. 3. In other Off07 applications, including Access07 and Excel07, there are times where we will not a "not responding" on top of the loss of connection. (Do not think this is related to Win7 problem since we can experience this "not responding" on XP boxes) I have worked with my tech staff, and they seem lost about it, it almost seems like I am the only one having this problem. The amazing thing is that I can remote into one of our WinXP (Pro) boxes and do any of the above actions without issue or error from the Win7 box. Why is it that Win7 seems so "hyper-sensitive"? Is there a setting that we need to adjust? Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.MJ

Have you disabled IP6? It was giving me problems with a peachtree database on a client site. Can you make sure that the power options do not shut down the NIC. You may also want to check your NIC settings; large frames (or something to that effect), and flow control are the two that come to mind.

Maybe too much EMI interfering with cabling? I would check the hard-line first personally. Just throwing a wild guess out there.
