Is Microsoft contacting people in the Asia Pacific region via telephone to fix a problem.
I had been contacted today by an Indian accented man representing that he is from Microsoft. It was stated that thee is a problem with my PC, and proceeded to guide me to an area in "My Computer". I just listened to him for a while, and did nothing to my PC. He stated it was to do with XP only, and I have no XP product registered with windows, only Vista. So it is possible there is a problem, but this is so unlike Microsoft. Is there any advice that there is a problem, as I am aware that I may have a PC which is a Zombie which is a work PC, but it is not registered in my name. I am inclined to think this is a serious scam which frees up your settings to allow some malware to be down loaded, but I didn't string him along long enough. 1 person needs an answerI do too

It's a scam (obviously). Why would Microsoft call you or anyone else just like that out of the blue without you first contacting them? Microsoft has hundreds of millions of customers... it wouldn't and doesn't make any sense that they would call customers to tell them that something is wrong with their computers, no more that it would make sense for the Pope or the Queen of England to call you out of the blue! And while we are at it, Microsoft also does not email customers to inform them of patches or fixes or other problems that might be present on your computer... or to tell you that you have won money! If you need help with any problems that you might have with Microsoft products visit the Microsoft.com site yourself and don't let strangers in to your computer!John
