Iomega Drive not visible in This PC but does show up in Open Devices and Printers

My Iomega external hard drive is connected to my Lenovo laptop through a USB cable.

I can see it in the Open Devices and Printers as an option to Eject (shows up as PL-2506 USB Storage Device) , but it cannot be found on This PC to access the files.

I have tried to change the drive letter in Computer Management that is showing it as a no name volume that is Simple - Basic - Healthy - Primary Partition with 232.65 GB.  It labels it as Disk 1 with 3 healthy partitions and shows it Online.

When I right click on the Volume my only option is to Delete.  I can not select any other option on the menu.

I really just want to access the files to retrieve photos off the drive.

I am not a real techie - so I am nervous about trying too much!  But if the drive is showing working shouldn't I be able to access the files?

Thanks for any help I can get!

Hi,

Could provide us a photo under device manager with right click on the problematic disk? Make sure that you didnt format that disk on other system such as MAC.

It should works after a drive letter assigned. Lets try disk park command for that.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

Type:

diskpart

Then type:

list disk (all disk will be listed, compare to number in device manager, identify that which one is your external hard disk)

select disk <disk number here>

list volume (all volume will be listed)

select volume <volume number here>

assign letter=L

Then restart your computer check the result.

Assign, change, or remove a drive letter
