Internet working on one computer....not working on second
I just recently moved into a new place and had Comcast come out to install the internet. I am getting internet connectivity on my work computer but cannot get it on my personal computer....both Dell's. When I load up a web page is says "The server at www.espn.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed" This is via Google Chrome and the Error is Error 105 (net:: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address. I've looked all over the internet and tried numerous things but I still get no connectivity. Not sure what else to do....any suggestions?

try opening a command prompt and typing tracert www.espn.com and watch for where it times out, that will help you access where the problem may be. Usually the first 2 to 3 hops are just getting to the network (depending on your homes setup) with the next being your providers DNS server which sends you on your merry way to espn.com

open a command prompt on both computers and compare the results of IPCONFIG /ALL. Both of your comptuers should have similar IPs (just a different host ID in the last octect), same subnet mask, same default gateway, and same DNS settings. Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Hi, First, I suggest you uninstall third party browser and use IE. Second, go to update the network adapter driver from the dell site, disable the security software, perform Clean Boot and check firewall settings. Please understand DNS server should be assigned automatically by ISP. Go to check TCP/IP setting referring to the following link. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings Or you can fill out the DNS server manually referring to the following link. http://www.tech-faq.com/public-dns-servers.html Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice.
