Internet problems
I have Windows Vista Home Premium and it refuses to connect to the internet in my school network. It will connect to the school network, and I can connect to computers on the network, but it refuses to connect to the internet. I gave my laptop to the IT Techs at my school and they spent 2 days trying to fix it but it will not work. The funny thing is, is that if I start the computer in Safe Mode with Networking... It works! (Which is waht I'm doing right now)That really bugs me. The IT techs said thay disabled my Norton Internet Security and my windows firewall but its still wouldn't work. They gave up today completly on my laptop and simply told me to wipe Vista off my laptop and put XP instead. But I don't want to get rid of Vista! Please help.

Can you connect to the internet other places besides at school, ie. at a wireless hotspot in a cafe/restaurant for example or at home? You also mightconsider uninstalling Norton as a test. I have seen quite a few others report issues with Norton and Vista networking in general.

Yes, my internet does work in public areas. It works everywhere but my school network. The IT techs said they got a file that diables norton completly but it still didn't work, also... if I uninstall Norton I woun't be able to get it back (becasue it came pr-installed) and then I woun't have an anit virus.

Disabling sometimes does not fix issues like this. But with that said if you can connect to another public network like a wireless hotspot at a restaurant indicates Norton is probably not the issue anyway, IMHO. FWIW, I use Nod32 on my two of my Vista machines and the free AVG anti-virus on another. Both work very well...
