Ok, sounds like you did pretty good. Given the current situation, I suspect a software conflict cause the problem. Could you please take a Clean Boot to narrow down the issue? For your convenience: Clean Boot =========================== 1. Click Start, type MSCONFIG in the Search Bar and Press Enter to start the System Configuration Utility. 2. Click the Services tab, check the Hide All Microsoft Services box and click Disable All (if it is not gray). 3. Click the Startup tab, click Disable All and click OK. 4. Restart the computer and test the issue. Please monitor the system in the Clean Boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to narrow down the problem. Here's a couple other suggestionsIE8 - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Browsing - uncheck the Crash Recovery featureif you are using iTunes and if you have Bonjour servuice from Apple on your computer. It messes us both ie8 and Firefox. Remove it and remove the apple updater (so it will not come back)MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Add to cdobbs' suggestions, please check if the issue is related to the add-ons installed. You can refer to the steps below to confirm this: Start Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8) with No Add-ons mode ========= To do this, Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). Note: If the issue does not occur after you use this method, use the Manage Add-ons option in the Tools menu to determine which add-ons are causing the issue. Also, could you please let us know if the issue occurs in all websites or only occurs after or trying to access certain website? If it only occurs while accessing certain website, please provide the website URL and we can help to check this issue. You also can check the Event Logs by going to "Start", input "eventvwr" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search bar and press Enter. Regards, Linda
