Internet explorer keeps launching at startup
how do I stop IE from launching at startup? i have nothing in the registry startup that should allow it to boot but everytime the system starts it trys to go online

Where is IE trying to go?The only thing I've seen that does this is scareware (fake anti-malware software). Total Security was the junk that I had to deal with. (Not on my own system. I'm not a sophisticate, but I know enough to not click "yes".)

it goes to my default google. nothing in the startup is there a new option in 8 that gives one the shaft?O4 - Startup: Internet Explorer.lnk = C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exefound it only way was with hijack this. deleted this reg and its gone

Where/how are you checking your startup items? msconfig Startup tab is probably as good as any. Also the Misc Tools section of HJT is very good. The Generate Startuplist.log button near the top.

there was nothing in the startup folder nore the run in regedit.not sure how that option was enabled nor where it was located. at least hijack this works for w7.
