Internet explorer (browser) cannot display the webpage repeatedly on Vista
Hi,I have this problem for almost 2 months and couldn't solve it. I hope someone can help me. Sometimes, when I just start the computer, the Internet Explorer (7.0) works fine. However, after use it for half hour or longer, it shows "internet explorer cannot display the webpage". I also try Firefox and Google Chrome, and they don't work either at the same time. However, the network icon shows the internet connection is on and I still can send and receive email. Everytime when this problem happens, I need to restart the computer and the IE works fine afte restart. Then, the problem happens again after half hour. This problem also happens both at work when Iconnect to a linksys voip router by a LAN cableand at home when Iconnect to a D-link wireless router. I guess the problem is not from the router or my internet provider as it happens at both places. My computer is Acer S570z laptop computer. runs Windows vista home premium sp1. I have AVG antivirus 8.5 free edition, Zonealarm firewall, and AD-Aware anniversary edition installed. I tried soseveral methods e.g. disable the Zonealarm firewall, scan with spybot, reset winsock setting, but the problem still exists. If you need more information about the problem, please let me knowThank youChris

Hi Chris, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I would like to suggest trying the following to narrow down the issue: 1. Please ping some websites URLs to see if it works. 2. Go to Network and Sharing Center and click Diagnose and repair to see if any issues can be identified. 3. You can boot the system to Safe Mode with networking and see how it works. 4. Reset IE settings. If you use proxy, please also check its settings. Reset Internet Explorer settings http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/81fe3b46-2460-459e-b826-8f134a7fe1771033.mspx 5. Please disable or temporarily remove the security software, such as antivirus software, firewall, etc. to check if it works. 6. Please perform a Clean Boot to check the issue. Clean boot ================= 1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, the third party services and applications are disabled, please check if the issue reoccurs at this time. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit. 7. If you connect to the Internet directly (bypass the router), how is the issue then? If the issue persists, please also help gathering the following information for further research: 1. Run ipconfig/all when the issue occurs and post the report to the thread. 2. Please check the event log to see if there some related error messages. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
