Internet connectivity issue.
Recently an internet connectivity problem just popped up on my computer. I am running windows 7 and I can connect to the network but not the internet (Using Wireless network not wired). When I use the troubleshooter the computer tells me it's a problem with the modem but I know it's not because many other devices in my household can connect and when I take the ethernet cable out of the router and put it in my computer it gives me a different issue thats like "Windows can't communicate with access point or resource (Primary DnS server)" the message reads something like that. I have tried many other solutions which include: Uninstalling and reinstalling my network adapter, doing ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew (when I do this it says it can't complete the action and I think this is because when I do ipconfig it says like 350 tunnel connections and all say media disconnected but i'm not sure), the most obivous fix i've reset my modemm and router, and I've disabled Ipv6. Those are just the ones I remember please help me.

If by chance you have McAfee AV installed on the computer that can't connect to the internet, then that's likely the problem. McAfee's last update has caused many people to lose their internet connections. If that's the case, then you'd need to uninstall McAfee AV, download a new setup program from McAfee and reinstall the software. McAfee has an alert with directions here: http://service.mcafee.com/default.aspx

Hi, Frist, please refer to the reply by Edjren to check if the McAfee is the culprit. If the issue persists, please try the following steps. Make sure the local area network (LAN) connection on the network computer is configured to get an IP address and DNS server address automatically. Configure the connection to obtain an IP address and DNS server address automatically ======================================= a. Click "Start", input "NCPA.CPL" (without quotation marks) to Start Search bar and press "Enter". b. Right-click the network connection and click "Properties". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and click "Properties". d. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". e. Click "OK". f. Click to highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties". g. Check "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically". h. Click "OK". i. Reboot the computer. Tracy Cai TechNet Community Support
