I've been having the same problem too and the only thing that sorts it at the moment is to switch off at the mains for 20 secs or so. This is only a temporary fix because as soon as I reboot without switching off at the mains it won't find the network adapter driver again. Any solutions anyone?

Same problem here with Windows XP host on Virtual PC 2007. I have Vista, XP, Ubuntu and Server 2003 all with internet connections in Virtual PC, but no connection for Windows 7.

I had the same problem installing Windows 7under Virtual PC 2007 SP1. I found out that using a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 as the OS during the Virtual Machine setup enabled the Sound card, but did not resolve the Internet connectivity issues. (You can switch this without reinstalling by first deleting the Virtual Machine Settings file (xxxxxxxx.vmc) for the Windows 7 Virtual PC and going through the install wizard again. Just point to the existing Virtual Machine Hard Drive Image file during the Wizard. This replaces the Soundblaster 16 virtual sound card with a Windows Vista compatible one.The reported problem in Network Diagnostics was always that the DNS server did not exist, was not reachable or was not configured correctly. I finally switched to using "Shared Networking (NAT)" for my Virtual Machine's network card, then manually configured the IPv4 DNS server address on the Network Adapterto match the Default Gateway address it ended up using, as a result of the change to Shared Networking (NAT). I used IPCONFIG/ALL under a CMD prompt to determine what Default Gatewaythe Virtual Machine was using. Prior to my manually entering the DNS address, it was using the address of my network firewall (10.0.0.1) for the DNS server address.This is now the longest I have been able to maintain Internet connectivity from the Windows 7 Virtual Machine and it appears to be stable.Below is how IPCONFIG now shows my Local Area Connection on the Windows 7 Virtual Machine: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel 21140-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (Emulated) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-03-FF-BE-BB-EA DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::e100:2212:6c7:5fcb%15(Preferred) IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.131.69(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : February-05-09 4:53:18 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : February-10-26 11:42:01 AM Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.131.254 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.131.254 DHCPv6 IAID . . . . . . . . . . . : 201327615 DHCPv6 Client DUID. . . . . . . . : 00-01-00-01-11-1C-F8-FC-00-03-FF-BE-BB-EA DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.131.254 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled
