Internet connection drops...
Hi guys,This is a long, stubborn and persistent problem I've been having.Till two months ago, my Lenovo N100 3000 was connected to the internet via LAN, directly to the DSL modem. Then, two months ago I finally got a Wireless router, the Edimax 6024BG. Though, recently, during the last month, I've experienced several difficulties. The main problem is as such: There is a WLAN connection - it works fine, until after a few hours/minutes (depends on the mood) - the connection starts acting up: It stays connected (shows on the Router config and the connection on the laptop still signs that it's connected), however, active connections, for example downloads on uTorrent or other program - works, however, whenever I try loading webpages, starting a conversation on the MSN messenger - it cannot load the webpages (saying it can't find the address) or start any connection to a new address.. I've talked to the support guys, who told me to update my Wireless driver on my laptop, updating the Firmware of the router, changing channels, and etc. - nothing changed. So they suggested that I sent the router to their lab, and meanwhile deal with a normal LAN connection. Which I did. Weird thing is, last night, the LAN connection showed the EXACT same symptoms. When disconnected and tried to reconnect to the DSL connection, I received the following error message: Error #692 - hardware failure in the modem.Any ideas?

I've noticed in the event viewer that I keep getting Event ID 4226 when this occurs.

Well, apparently, the connection dropped again now, had nothing to do with EventID 4226 this time.Any ideaas?

Well, I've official tried everything.Flushing the DNS, turning AutoTuning on and off in different levels, rolling back drivers, Resetting Winsock and TCP/IP settings, uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapters....And still, I'm stuck with drop-offs, and the inability to make new connections to different sources.Apparently, it seems like this has something to do with some Vista update, since it hasn't started immediately after having a wireless or an internet connection with the laptop.Any ideas as to what could cause this mess?

Hello Tamir, Thanks for your updates. Ive made some research on your case, and found out that Edimax 6024BG seems not the exact product name. On Edimax website, I find the following two devices instead: http://www.edimax.com/en/support_detail.php?pd_id=208&pl1_id=3&pl2_id=56 http://www.edimax.com/en/support_detail.php?pd_id=138&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=48 The manufacturer doesn't release the driver for Windows Vista of these two devices, therefore I suspect them to be incompatible ones. Based on such a situation, please confirm the product model to us and Ill check the compatibility information for you. Besides, if possible, try your laptop in another network environment. Let us know the result if possible. Thanks! Important Note: This response contains a reference to a third party World Wide Web site. Microsoft is providing this information as a convenience to you. Hello Tamir, Based on your description, there may be something wrong with your wireless network adapter. If possible, I recommend you to try another network card to test this issue again. To further analyze this issue, you may take a capture via Net Monitor 3.1: Network Monitor: 1. Download NetMon3.1 from the following website and install it on the Windows Vista machine:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=18b1d59d-f4d8-4213-8d17-2f6dde7d7aac&DisplayLang=en 2. Log onto the machines, right-click the Netmon icon and select Run as Administrator to launch NetMon3.1. 3. In the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1 window, click Create a new capture tab 4. In the new tab, select all the Network Adapters in the Select Networks window. 5. After that, press F10 to start NetMon. 6. Reproduce the issue. Once the issue occurs, go back to the NetMon window and press F11 to stop the NetMon. 7. Press Ctrl+S to save the Netmon file. After that, please zip and upload the above two files to the following space:https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=915a3b18-4392-47b1-8c2f-58846a20ec11 Password: hYh^YhriUJ Ill see what I can help based on the capture. Thanks! Cheers, Lionel

Lionel hello,As I have already tried another USB Wireless adaptor and suffered from the same symptoms, I doubt that this is an adapter issue,I will try the application you have mentioned when this occurs again.
