Internet browswer random hanging/freezing in both 32 and 64-bit versions of Win7 RC
I'm having an issue with browsing the internet and freezing on my Lenovo R61 laptop with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Win7. The browser, Firefox and/or Internet Explorer will randomly freeze whilst browsing, then everything else in Windows starts becoming unresponsive (like a chain reaction), and everything will stay frozen for 2-3 minutes. It always comes out of the freeze after 2-3 minutes and everything starts working/responding normally again. It is impossible to pinpoint when the freezing will occur. It's completely random. CPU and RAM usage never spikes or anything like that. I did a clean install each time on both the 32 and 64-bit versions. I'm currently running the 32-bit version. The only drivers I installed from the Lenovo website had to do with the trackpad to enable scrolling. I let Windows 7 use the default drivers for everything else.

Can you ensure no unnecessary add-ons are running in either browser? Do they work if you run them without any add-ons at all?

Yeah, I'm having the same issue in Windows 7 64bit. version 7100 on my personally built desktop. I never encountered it until I installed 64 bit, and the only browser add-ons I have are the usual flash, and java. I wish I knew the solution, it really is annoying to say the least. Hitting ctrl alt Del. does nothing either. I'll keep researching online hopefully one of us will find an answer.

I forgot to update this thread! Anyway, the issue was the fact that I did not have a certain Lenovo driver installed. Specifically the "Intel Turbo Memory Driver," which also installs the "Intel Matrix Storage Console and Driver." Here is the a link to this driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67820 Driver Description taken from the Lenovo website: Intel Turbo Memory Driver for Windows Vista - ThinkPad Reserve Edition, R400, R500, R61, T61, T61p, T400, T400s, T500, W500, W700, W700ds, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X300, X61, X61s, X61 Tablet This package installs the Intel Turbo Memory Driver to enable Microsoft ReadyDrive and Microsoft ReadyBoost features: - Intel Turbo Memory Controller - Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller - Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller - Intel ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/M SATA RAID Controller This may not directly help those like Marc who are having this issue with custom built computers but hopefully it can help lead people like Marc in the right direction in terms of finding out what driver they need for their system.
