Internet browsing stops working after a day or two. Every other programs connected to the internet still works
When i have ued the computer for a day or two, all of a sudden, the browser gives me a timout error. Every other internet programs still works, and i can download and upload data, ping web sites, listen to internet radio and so on. The only thing that's NOT working is the browsers. Both Internet Explorer and FireFox has this problem, like the computer was not connected to the internet at all. The only thing i can access with the browser is the wireless access piont's setup page. This computer does not connect to the internet through this one as it has a cable connection, just to mention it, it belongs to another part of my network. I've tried just about everything, flushing the Winsock-cache, released/renewed DHCP, repaired the network connection etc. The only thing that helps is to restart the computer (whitch i'm getting very tired of doing...) But even then it stil just works for a day or two, simetimes just a few hours. It's running W7 Ultimate x64 by the way, and has absolutely no kind of firewall/antivirus etc that might causing any problems. One of my laptops -whitch also runs W7- has the exact same problem, only difference is that it uses a wireless connection through the accesspoint mentioned above. I also have a XP Desktop, a XP laptop, another laptop with W7 and a iMac, but there's no problem with those Any ideas?

Hi, I would like to suggest you update the firmware of the router and the network card drivers first. After that, you may reset Internet Explorer settings to check the result. You may also test the issue in Clean Boot to check if there are any software conflicts. Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

My router is quite old, so there's no firmware avaiable for it any more. Just to mention it, i have a Nintendo Wii and that has been connected to the internet through the same router for years now, without any problem. REsetting the explorer settings did not help, besides the only time i've used it was to download FireFox. I'l try a clean boot later today

Hi, Do you have another router can be used to test the issue? You may also run the following command with elevated privilege to check the result: IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

I don't have any other routers. Actually, i'm just using the router as a switch/wifi-acess point so i've de-activated the "router-function" and DHCP and all that stuff. This is because my network is connected to a big antenna that connects to a "super hot-spot" about 5km away. -Whitch have always worked for the last 4-5 years. But i'l try to flush the DNS next time it happens

It happened again just a moment ago. Flushing DNS did not help either... Weird

I think it's hanging because of memory leak, you can close all the IE browser once it gets hanged and reopen to check if its working fine or not One more thing you can do, just clear all temp and cache from browsers and check let me know if it helps Durga charan ojha http://www.durga-mcse.blogspot.com/
