Internet access via ethernet converter
I have been having trouble locating a wireless network card/dongle that works with Vista so have just purchased a Buffalo Ethernet Converter WLI-TX4-G54HP. I have configured this and can successfully access my NAS, which I have plugged into the ethernet converter, however I am unable to access the internet. I have connected my laptop, which has a Windows XP OS, to the ethernet converter and it connects to the internet seemlessly. Does anyone have any suggestions to why I am unable to connect to the internet via this ethernet converter?Regards,Andy

Hi Andy, Thank you for the post. First, I suggest contacting Buffalo to check if the Ethernet Converter WLI-TX4-G54HP fully supports Windows Vista. Meanwhile, I would like to confirm the following items with you: Is this environment using dial-up connection? If so, is it the Windows Vista computer or the Router that makes the dial-up connection? How does the Windows Vista computer get IP address? Is it a static or dynamic (assigned by DHCP server) IP address? If the IP address is assigned by DHCP Server, can the Windows Vista computer get the IP address now? Can the Windows Vista computer ping the Default Gateway? I look forward to your reply. Hi Joson, Thank you for your detailed reply. I have now resolved this issue. My IP address is dynamic, however I had not set the DNS server address of the wireless router. Once this was set it worked perfectly. Kind Regards Andy
