Internet Speed boosted up
Hi all here i am again :Di have made some recent changes to see if i get better performances cause using proxy is not always something cool heheso These are my current values after chenges: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]"FastCopyReceiveThreshold"=dword:000005dc(1500 decimal)"FastSendDatagramThreshold"=dword:000005dc(1500 decimal) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]"TCPMaxPortsExhausted"=dword:00000001 it was like this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]"FastCopyReceiveThreshold"=dword:00000400(1024 decimal) which is the default behaviour"FastSendDatagramThreshold"=dword:00000400(1024 decimal) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters]"TCPMaxPortsExhausted"=dword:00000005 Now internet speed is just amazing ,pages even the heavy ones open instantly and it looks like it improved the latency cause even using proxy server(free) its just so fast that i cant complaint about!!my question is: what if i change to these values: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]"FastCopyReceiveThreshold"=dword:00000800(2048 decimal)"FastSendDatagramThreshold"=dword:00000800(2048 decimal)"BufferMultiplier"==dword:00000400(800 decimal)--My cunrrent is "BufferMultiplier"==dword:00000200(512 decimal)will those compromise security or even performance? or the answer is : Yes it wil be a lot better just do it? Thanks in advance,RR

No thoughts here, have to re-read your post.... If your post is too perplexing, which it is, a lot of people won't "get" your post and the chances of being helped / get thoughts about it get slim and slimmer.Hello! Wow man c'mon you guys know a lot more about networking and security than me!!!!Btw forget about bufferMultiplier i must've been on acid when i posted that was just tripping hehe...anyways i tried those values :[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AFD\Parameters]"FastCopyReceiveThreshold"=dword:00000800(2048 decimal)"FastSendDatagramThreshold"=dword:00000800(2048 decimal)and didnt seem to make it better and actually it turned out to be worst,it got more unstable and latency S*cked!!! so i switched back to the old ones (1500) which they seem to be the optimal values or best for me!!!"TCPMaxPortsExhausted"=dword:00000005 this one i changed to one cause when 1 Port Exhausted then SynAttackProtect takes action so in theory it would be a faster response against Syn floods IMO!!!Joebx you can find tons of Ddos protections and other protections in microsoft library its all there for everyone so i guess this is nothing out of the ordinary for most of you (thinking in my head)....so maybe my question is answered by me lol ,sorry for posting that but maybe i can take advantage of this thread and post other stuff related to that if Mods agree and if dont plz cut me out by warning then i stop with this thread...i just think this might be useful for many ppl!Kind regards,RR

Yes there are a lot of tweaks laying around on MS's sites, just most people have no clue how to use these advanced ones like you have here and therefore have no thoughts on how to help you. Most people on this forum are average users who would mostly never go into regedit. Your post would probably be better off in a forum where people would know a lot about the registry. For example of perplexing / people don't get it posts, I have a HTML and IE question thread w/ 2 parts of a site that IE won't display properly, but Firefox displays it perfectly. I have kept track of the page views and it is only up to 30 or so page views, so the post must be a little in the "I don't know how to answer you" category.Hello! Hi Joelbx,Hehe i think ur right and im understimating my knowledge a bit and feel happy for knowing that im not too newbie in security thing !!and i completely understand ur ideas but i believe that Msf answerers or even advanced users which i found a lot here in this forum can easily answer to my threads but i might be wrong and maybe ppl deal better with scrips than with registry, which is weird cause reg stuff is so simple for ppl who knows how to open windows registry...but i also understand most of the ppl here must be busy with some more important things to deal with and the time they have free just dont want to wasteit answering some security nuts questions and thats what i figured, i feel coolwith thatand completely understand :Dbut i think i can now contribute with some intresting information i just found!!!i dont knowwhy but stupidly a long time ago like months i set the following entry to a value of 0:HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters"SackOpts"=dword:00000000i just left it like that for months which it so happens to be the reason why everytime aftermy modem goes idle and i try to visit any other page the page simply wouldnt load andthedestination was unreachbleso only after that by trying again the page would load!!!After altering that to a value of 1("SackOpts"=dword:00000001) i no longer have that issue freaking me out!!!!so maybe at some day microsoft to avoid that kind of thing could add to an update package that entry set to a value of 1...thanks for replying Joelbx!Kind regards,RR

Curious kat Have you changed these registry keys? By increasing the number of simultaneous downloads web pages will display slightly quicker. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings Look for two keys in the right pane, MaxConnectionsPerServer and MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server. If they exist, then right-click on each in turn and Modify the value to decimal 10 (hex a). If the strings don't exist in the right pane, they will need to be added manually. To add them, right-click in the right pane, select New > DWORD Value, type the first name as the string name, press Enter and then repeat the procedure for the second one. Now modify the values to decimal 10 (hex a). As the key is a CURRENT_USER one, the change, obviously, needs to be done for each user of the computer.

hi BurrWalnut, yes i have done that via Group policy and it adds that up automatically unlike the Windows 7 beta version that didnt have that option but i also added that setting to the Hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parametersMaxConnectionsPer1_0Server=10MaxConnectionsPerServer=8 forgot which one is 8 or10(a "hex").my internet is pretty fast due to lots of reg changes but i got a bit greedy and tried to make it faster than a bullet lol and it didnt work but now i changed back some entries and increased some afd settings now its like a dream pictures with resolution like 2048x800(just a hipothetic example) opens up instantaly and im not exagerating!!!!Kind regards,RR
