Internet Randomly Stopped Working
Several months ago i bought a new computer that came with Windows Vista. It's internet and network connections have worked relatively well until just the other day, when it randomly stopped working. Although the main computer on the network (running xp) had been turned off and unplugged for several days, I had been connected to the network perfectly fine. The router i am using is a linksys, but i have no idea what model. My internet connection is through Comcast. I have seen several solutions that tell me to go through registration editing but none of them have worked. I have tried all the generic solutions (restarting comp, restarting router, etc...) but nothing has worked. Network Diagnostics likes to tell me that my I.P. address is wrong, but it can't seem to fix it. Keep in mind that i cannot access the main computer on the network. I'm new to these forums, so if i forgot anything, please nicely ask me to find it for you.

Hi, Before moving on, please confirm the following points: 1. Do you use static IP? If not, is there a DHCP server available in the environment? 2. How many computers in the environment? This issue may be caused by IP address conflict. 3. Do you use wireless? If so, can you try to troubleshoot this issue by wired? Please start the computer in Safe Mode with Network and check the result. If the issue disappears, please perform a clean boot. For the detailed steps, please refer to the step 1 and 2 in the KB article 936214 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936214). If the issue still persist, please run the command ipconfig /all and post the result here. Thank you for your cooperation. Hope it helps.
