I have just performed a series of updates including the above. On completion I have no internet access. I performed a system restore and my internet was ok. I performed the update again selecting only the above, same problem. I again restored my system and performed the update on the other 9 items in the list, all is ok There is something wrong with update KB2482017 for my computer. Can anybody shed any light on this for me please Tom

I installed the update, too and everything is fine. Is the complete Internet access not working or is only the IE8 not working?"A programmer is just a tool which converts caffeine into code" CLIP- Stellvertreter http://www.winvistaside.de/

Joy Lookmou If it is for XP only, then why did Microsoft's Windows Update install it on four (4) of my computers all running Windows 7? Did you read the entire KB @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2482017 ? Additional file information for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Additional files for Internet Explorer 8 on all supported x86-based versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Internet Explorer 8 on all supported x64-based versions of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 From what I read it apllies to XP, 2003, Vista, and Win 7.Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. You can temporarily remove the AVG, or you can try the Microsoft Security Essentials. Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I restored my system to prior to the update again. I then reinstalled the updates separating KB2482017 and KB2467023 into different updates and all is working OK. I found on another forum people had had problems with these 2 updates relating to server access using VMWare. I thought that if I separated them and de-installed them after update that it may have had a chance to remove the problem but each update worked successfully so go figure, but at least I have a fully updated and working system Thanks again Tom
