Internet Explorer not bringing up new web address
I have a client with a brand new computer, Win7, 32bit, Pro. All updates have been applied. When logged onto her email using the browser, Comcast email, she drills down to her inbox and double clicks an email. In this case the email is a bill with a link to the click on that will pop a new internet explorer box and should go to the web site where she can log on and view her online bill. However the new internet explorer box opens but instead of the web site address in it, it has "about:blank" She is able to get the correct web address on other computers. I have made the comcast site a trusted site and lowere her default security settings down one notch from initial setting of medium but still get the error. What else should I look for. Hi John, Before moving on, I would like to confirm that if it is failed to click all the hyperlinks in this page. Also, please check if it is able to click the hyperlink to open it via Internet Explorer in the other sites. If it is able to open the other hyperlink in the other sites, you may refer to the following KB article for this issue: A New Internet Explorer Window Does Not Always Open When You Click Hyperlinks If it cannot open the hyperlink all the sites, you may refer to the following steps to troubleshoot: Please first disable the third party security software (anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall) to check the issue. If the issue persists without enabling this kind of software, please test the issue in Clean Boot. If the issue still exists in Clean Boot mode, please reset Internet Explorer 8 by the steps below: Reset Internet Explorer 8 =============== Note: the following steps will remove all of installed add-ons and reset IE to default settings. We need to reinstall the add-ons after resetting. 1. Click "Start", type "inetcpl.cpl" (without quotation marks) into “Search” bar and press "Enter" to open the “Internet Options” window. 2. Switch to the "Advanced" tab. 3. Click "Reset…" to reset Internet Explorer settings. 4. Check "Delete personal settings" box and click "Reset" to confirm the operation. 5. Click "Close" when the resetting process is complete. 6. Close the Internet Explorer window and restart IE to check the issue. Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. Ok, thanks for the suggestions, I did reset the settings etc but still it brings up the blank page. I also opened up the email using OUtlook 2010 and the link there also sends me to a about:blank web page and a security warning comes up about a potential security concern wit the link. At this point we are gong to navigate to the site directly, ie not though the email, and can log in from there to get the information. JohnJohn K Scott

This is a brand new install, ie new computer etc and the first time we fired it up. So it never worked to begin with on this computer. I do have Sunbelt Software Vipre installed but turned off the web browser filtering, but still get this error. Then I forwarded the same email to my shop email account and opened the email up in OUtlook 2010. But get the same about:blank web page and the security warning. JohnJohn K Scott

Hi John, Are all of the links in this mail cannot be accessed? How about other mails? Check if the issue also occurs in other mailbox which can be accessed with browser, if you have.
