Internet Explorer new tab does not load????
Hello!I'm using Windows 7 RC with IE 8. Something is terribly wrong with IE 8 tabs. Suppose I'm on www.google.com, and I right-click on a link there, and select open in new tab. The new tab appears, but it just shows the loading sign. IT NEVER LOADS!!! I can click to make it the active tab, but it still does not load. Refreshing that page does not help, either. Right click>Open in new window does not load either!!!! I have NO clue what is wrong here, but if this could be resolved it would be great!!! (I have tried starting is with no addons, same deal)Thanks, macwinP.S.I'm using a Dell E1705

Hi,I also have this problem (same with the explorer issue also). I have found that if I click the 'stop' cross on the new tab or window, then press "enter" with the cursor in the address bar, the web page then loads. A fresh install of RC7 with no ad-ins. Could this be related to the issue with explorer opening a new window every time you click on a folder? (no matter what check boxes for window behaviour is selected - as I notice macwin has the same issue)Cheers,Drew

Have either of you tried an IE 8 reset? Press the ALT key, then click on Tools | Internet Options and the Advanced tab. On the bottom of the tab is the reset button. This will reset IE to it's default configuration. This can, at times, fix issues with the browser.

I did a reset also, no luck. I'm not sure how to reinstall IE 8 in Windows 7, maybe could you help me with that? Thanks, macwin EDIT: I turned off IE 8 in Windows programs, essentially uninstalling it. I then reinstalled it, same deal. *sigh*

Wolfie suggested a reset. Good. I would suggest 2 other things to get past the DNS refresh. In IE, Tools / Internet Options / general tab / Browsing History - click Delete button to clear the cache. Then try again. Hope that helps! Also do a power re-cycle on your cable modem to refresh your info from your ISPS (Unplug modem power connector for at least 15 seconds)(it will take another 30 seconds to reconnect and refresh the info.Hope that helps! Ok, well this is most likely not related to internet connectivity. It works fine in Firefox and it never drops out my connections. I actually think this is related to the Explorer open in new window issue that you are familiar with, KrisM77. I just can't figure out what is wrong!!! :(

HI,Same problem here. I am runnning a 64 bit installation, when using the 64 bit internet explorer the tabs work fine only 64 bit does me no good because of the lack of flash and some incompatable add-ons that I need. Using the 32 bit version included is when I get the blank tabs when I try to open them from a link in another page the same thing with a new window. However clicking on a link in outlook opens a new tab in the open browser just fine.I have not tried to reinstall win 7 yet I was hoping that I could find a fix. I have tried the fixes above short of the reinstall, I also tried regsvr32 actxprxy.dllwith no luck. One last thing the same thing happens when running with no add-ons.Thanks

Reinstalling windows is a tedious job not a solution.I am also facing same problem Pls suggest. There's ONE possible solution. An "In Place Upgrade" - basically... What you do is insert the RC DVD into your computer's drive, and boot from it. Instead of doing a clean install, you do an "upgrade" install. What this does is reset Windows files and their settings back to their default behavior. You'll need to do a Windows Update afterwards, but your apps, data and such won't be touched. You may also need to activate Windows again - still, 20 - 40 minutes and a refreshed and working OS is still less of a pain in the neck than a few hours backing up, reinstalling from scratch.

Same was happening to me but I noticed it started imediatelly before I installed McAfee Virtual Technician. According to McAffe beta site I wassupposed to install this Virtual Technician before installing the AV suite. Once I uninstalled this Virtual Technician the open on "New Tab" or "New Window" started to work again.( I did reset the IE8 settings after the uninstall... you may need to do that also. I also did the reset before the uninstall but didn't fix the problem at all)Hope this findingmay help others.Regards,Eduardo

I've had the same problem for about a year. I have used Vista Home Basic 32, and now Vista Ultimate 64, same thing. I think its just a bug. Firefox works fine, its just IE. Sometimes when I open a new window which defaults to google.com, nothing shows up (yet I know my internet is still working just fine). So I continuously open and close IE until it finally comes up, or it doesnt and I open Firefox. Very very annoying. This happens with new tabs as well. I can open a new tab, and google will not load. I can go to an already used tab, go to a website, and it loads just fine. I with they would fix this as its very annoying.

An easier solution is to use Safari. Everything works...tabs, video, etc. No switching from 32 to 64 bit IE so tabs work one place and video in the other.
