Internet Explorer Wizard & Keyboard Quick Keys
Installed Windows 7 RC a few days ago and so far I am very impressed. I've run into two small issues that aren't big deals, but I did want to mention them.Occasionally the Internet Explorer First Run Wizard will pop up when opening IE. Seems like once you run it the first time, it would disable itself -- not sure why it keeps wanting to pop back up.Also, my keyboard (Razer Lycosa)has the quick keys for audio volume. My keyboard drivers installed from Windows Update and the quick keys worked for about a day. Now they no longer work. I uninstalled the device drivers and then did a hardware scan so it would find the keyboard again and reinstall the drivers. The quick keysstill don't work.Like I said, neither of the issues are major problems, just slight annoyances. If anyone has any tips, chime in and let me know.

Flux - The IE wizard should only pop up once - but you have to SAVE the preferences you've selected. Once you've done that, it shouldn't pop up any longer. About the only time it might is if you did a system restore to BEFORE you first launched IE and it got reset...The keyboard thing sounds like a definite driver issue... Have you tried the Razer drivers found here? You may need to install it using Vista 32 or 64 compatability mode, but it should work.

About the only time it might is if you did a system restore to BEFORE you first launched IE and it got reset... That's the wierd thing about it. Everytime it pops up, I go through and complete the Wizard and click Finish at the end. It's popped up on three seperate occasions so far -- didn't have this problem when I had IE8 installed on WinXP Pro SP3. Haven't done a System Restore -- in fact, System Restore is turned off. The keyboard thing sounds like a definite driver issue... Have you tried the Razer drivers found here? You may need to install it using Vista 32 or 64 compatability mode, but it should work. It's just wierd how the driver worked at first then suddenly stopped. I don't like the *official* Razer drivers because it installs a nasty system tray application that annoys the heck out of me. I'll just adjust the audio using the speaker icon in the system tray. Thanks for the help.

LordFlux, The behavior of IE that you describe was common when an Internet Explorer 7 installation under Windows XP became corrupted. Because Internet Explorer 8 is intrinsically linked to Windows 7, I'd try running a System File Checker scan by entering "sfc /scannow" into a Command Prompt. This will identify and repair and corrupted or missing operating system files. If that doesn't work, you could try loading your Windows 7 install DVD while the computer is running to perform an "in-place upgrade," as if you were upgrading from Windows Vista - this, too, will re-install needed OS components, and sometimes works where SFC fails. Getting the "refresh" here could also help your audio drivers - it's not designed to replace them, but because they evidently stopped working without any change to the driver model, it's worth a try.-Alex
