Internet Explorer 9 starts in InPrivate browsing and in Safe Mode only.
Have Windows7 Ultimate x86, Office 2010 along with IE9 which was working pretty well till a wk. back except that there were problems with Facebook, the browser usually went back to the Home page after an initial start with Fb. Now the clicking of the IE9 icon leads only to the opening of a blank page with no web page or address display. It opens properly when I start IE either in Safe Mode or InPrivate browsing.Using Security essentials as my AV program. Tried restoring settings to default, Resetting, and disabling all third party add-ons including Acrobat 9 pdf making bar. Also tried uninstalling IE9 and going back to IE8. Same problem with IE8. Then disabled IE8 by disabling IE8 via Turning Off Windows features and installed IE9 again but the same problem persists. Now I'm using Firefox/Chrome as default. Don't really know what to do now, couldn't get my problem on TechNet solutions either. I'm also having frequent shut downs on all my browsers. Tried Microsoft Fixit Center for IE and got the error message in the last two tests for IE: 0x80070057 error code in IEBrowserWebDiagnostic andIE SecurityDiagnostic. Please suggest a solution.Irfan

Hi, For a better analyzing, please provide the whole error message from diagnostic tool. You can also upload the related screenshots about this issue: How to capture a screenshot ========================= 1) Press the Print Screen key (PrtScn) on your keyboard. 2) Click the "Start" menu, type "mspaint" in the Search Bar and Press Enter. 3) In the Paint program, click the "Edit" menu, click "Paste", click the "File" menu, and click "Save". 4) The "Save As" dialogue box will appear. Type a file name in the "File name:" box, for example: "screenshot". 5) Make sure "JPEG (*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JFIF)" is selected in the "Save as type" box, click “Desktop” on the left pane and then click "Save". 6) Then Upload to SkyDrive. At the meantime, I would like to know what the operation “initial start with Fb” is. For a test, you could try to delete the browsing history to check how it works. Thx Alex for trying to help. By 'intial start with Fb' I meant that as soon as I got to the Fb page from my Home page ( usually by typing Face....on the address bar after deleting the Home page address and pressing Enter) after a brief period of signing in, the browser usually reverted back to the Home page automatically. That was the period when I stopped using IE9 for Fb. Now my IE9 is not working atall except in Private/Safe mode. I tried deleting the browsing history, it doesn't help. Only the File and Safety buttons are active in the regular mode under the Tools menu, rest are greyed out. In The File option only Suggested Sites is active while in the Safety option Delete Browsing History and InPrivate browsing are active. The Error Msgs I mentioned are all the error msgs I get from the MS FixIt. The usual erroe msg I get when I open IE9 in regular mode is given at the SkyDrive address below: http://cid-9003427d0b512e83.office.live.com/browse.aspx/IE%209%20Error%20Messaage?nl=1&uc=1Irfan

Hi, Have you tried to start Internet Explorer 9 in No add-ons mode directly? Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), what is the result? Due to this issue did not occur in Safe Mode, I suspect this is related to software conflicts, please test how it works in Clean Boot mode, Alex ZhaoPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
