Internet Explorer 8 opens Word document in new window
Internet Explorer 8 opens Word document in new window and leaves the page blank. PDF files however are opened in the same window. How can we bring this back like it was in Internet Explorer 7 (pdf en doc files are opened in the browser in the same windows.

Hi,
That’s a by design behavior. When you try to open an office file in IE,
the document may not open in the same window as Internet Explorer 8. Instead, a new Word will opens to display the document.
I found a KB can change to open word with IE 8:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927009
But it only supply to Office 2007, not apply to Office Word 2010.

It worked on XP with the KB, but we have added another registry key: EditFlags with the req_dword datatype and 0x00010000 as value. On Windows 7 it didn't solve the problem.

Hi,
I have tested many tests on my machine but failed to open office word in IE 8 on Windows 7. That KB seems worked on Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Since this problem related with change the registry of Microsoft Office, I suggest to ask Office Forum further help:
