Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View - Unable to see the list of sites added through GPO
Hi Guys, I was wondering if I was configuring my IE8 properly through GPO. I wanted to get a list of sites to be automatically forced into IE7 Compatibility Mode but I cant even see the list in my IE8 Compatibility View Settings List. I have configured it on the GPO of my local computer in the Computer and User sections in preparation to a Active Directory GPO but both yielded no additions. Am I modifying my GPO incorrectly? I modified the following: [Computer Configuration]\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites [User Configuration]\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Compatibility View\Use Policy List of Internet Explorer 7 sites We have 10 test computers for numerous beta testers and they need 15 sites to be forced into Compatibility Mode. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. You are configuring the correct Group Policies. The websites configured in Group Policy will automatically open in Internet Explorer Compatibility mode, but they won’t display in Compatibility View Settings list in order to prevent users from removing the entries you specify. Hi Dale, Thank you for your answer. It seems that what we were expecting was the GPO website list be included in the Compatibility View List but greyed out to prevent user intervention. We wanted our Website Compatibility testers to be provided some type of cue to see when Compatibility mode actually kicks in so that there are no confusion as to whether an existing website will have issues with our company-wide IE8 deployment. Unfortunately, the only cue will be the Compatibility View button disappearing and the list of websites created under the registry key below since I created the GPO for the Computers because I am using a few virtual machines for beta testing. :-) HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\BrowserEmulation

It does not work, especially for third-level domains (www.contoso.co.uk) Where is the site list cached? Where is the "Unmark as Answer" button? --Aargh!

i have to agree. i have placed sites on this list and the browser still doesn't show them in compatibility mode. i have tried using wild card entries, and specific entries. no luck.

I also had the same problem, the GPO is not working for the User Configuration but is working fine for the Computer Configuration.
