Internet Connectivity Problem -- RC1 -- Can Ping but not much esle
I've got HP DV9008 Pavillion Laptop and installed Vista RC1 Build 5600.
I've connected my laptop wirelessly to the internet thru my D-Link G640T Wireless ADSL Router Modem. My XBOX360, My XP Home Edition Laptop and My Apple powerbook are all connected to the internet thru this modem ( some wired ; some wireless ). Everything other than Vista can access the internet and each other without any worries.
From my Vista machine I can ping the outside internet; I can even nslookup and tracert to the outside internet. I can use my browser to access the little admin webserver running on the d-link. DHCP is working fine and assigning IP addresses just fine. I've also tried assigning static IP address to the vista machine.
I've run the "netsh int tcp set global autotuning=disabled" command and tried switching off the firewall on vista as well as on the router in vain.
I've tried Firefox, IE7, Skype etc etc; nothing seems to connect to the internet.
On top of all this --
Every time there are Audio problems and the NVidia driver problems as well since i get the BSOD everytime i startup anything to do with graphics! (nv4_mini.sys BSOD)
Any suggestions? The machine has Core Duo 2 2GHz CPU; 2 Gig RAM; 512 Mb Geforce 7600 Graphics card.
Regards,
Aditya

I'm having a similar issue.. suddenly i cant get on any web pages or use MSN messenger etc..
I can ping via address fine though.
I've tried using the command netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled but that didnt fix the issue.. i've also tried disabling ipv6.

I had a very similar problem recently, what kind of security do you have setup on your D-Link? WPA, WEP?
Try turning the security features off and leaving it open with the SSID broadcasting, and re connect to it, Or alternatively have you tried aCAT 5from theRouter to your laptop?
I was at a friends house and he was using a Netgear DG834G Router with MAC Address filtering and WPA - TKIPSecurity and he was not broadcasting his SSID, although he gave me his WPA key and Network name i just couldnt connect to the Box or to the internet, as soon i switched off the security features and enabled the SSID i was connected and surfing just fine, strange but worth a try i guess...
