Internet Connection Unreliable
I too am having problems with internet connections (Ethernet). Originally the problem wax intermittent but now I just cannot connect at all. The Windows diagnostic tool in Windows 7 RC1 is absolutely useless and cannot find the fault. I didn't have as many problems in the beta 7000 version. Since there appears to be numerous people with similar problems, the Microsoft people must know about it so when are they going to fix it? (per update) or are they not going to bother with the RC1 but wait until the RTM is available?

Rogch -Before doing what I suggest below uninstall the NIC via the Device Manager (do not delete driver files).Power-cycleyour modem, Router, and Computer system; unplug all power to everything at let sit for 2~3 minutes.Begin plugging everything back in beginning with the Router (wait about 30 seconds), then the Modem (wait till it's "Online"), finally the computer.Start the computer, the NIC should be re-installed by the time you get to the Desktop. If your problems persist use the Command Prompt and type: ipconfig /release, waita few seconds then type: ipconfig /renew.Try as I suggested and let me know how it went.By the way, do you have a 3rd party Firewall installed?GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansing Speakers. Hi DavidLeeDavis, I am currently connected to the internet via W7, but next time I might not get connected and that is what is happening when it is intermittant, sometimes there isn't a problem and other times there is. I have already tried unplugging the router, but it doesn' make any difference, also Winows 7 diagnosis cannolt find tghe cause of trhe problem, Vista can (on the rare occasions that I lost connection). I do have a third party firewall but this was happening with Windows firewall as well. I will try the second option you have given me.

Hi DavidLeeDavis, Problem again today so I tried the command prompt but at no avail. Could this be a Windows 7 problem?

Hi,same problem, 2 computers Quadcore AMD and Quadcore Intel, both have dual boot XP and win 7 one ASus p5Q, one Asus M2n-E, with beta release internet connection was reliable and fast, since win 7 RC, sometimes it connects, but most of the time it tells me no network access. So I boot to XP test my connection speed about 3.5Mb/s boot to win7 and no connection, I try one hour later, and see it connects. But next time not sure.I played around and worked with win 7beta for a month, no issues, than a font issue, I thought to myself WOW this is my next OSbut with RC it became worse, so many issues now, with hardware, network, performance, applications, I,m afraid whenthe finalversion is coming out, it will even become worse, so I stick to XP and linux. I will test it for another 2 weeks, then probably erase it and wait for win 8 ...

At sthis stage there is insufficient reason for me to upgrade to Windows 7 when the RTM is released, but I might consider it later after a few bugs have been ironed out with SP1.

Windows 8 will be a long wait. Windows 7 hasn't been released yet. Did you check your drivers? Seems so check Windows update and the vendor's site. Try those first.
