I enabled Internet Connection Sharing. It worked for weeks, until today. It just stopped working. It is as I say: It just stopped working. I have not ever seen anything like this.It worked fine for months under Vista sp2, until I updated to win7 recently. It's getting to seem like, it was a mistake.Internet Connection Sharing ( ICS ) at least worked for two weeks. But it just stopped working recently!Also interesting is the fact, that the connection which is connected to the internet, can be in a Home Location,while the other one connecting to the LAN, is doomed to be public ( it can not be changed ).WTF is going on? An ipconfig from the ICS guest would be helpful. Nothing will happen if it doesn't get the correct config from ICS. Does it have a 192.168.137.x IP address and 192.168.137.1 as its gateway address?Bill

The ICS guest recived IP settings automatically. It worked the day before. The file, and printer sharing in my best knowledge has nothing to do with it, yet I tried it. Did not help.Not even resetting the adapters, the machines helped. One day, when I went to sleep, I turned off my machine. The next morning ICS was not working. All day it refused to work, no matter what I did. It was yesterday.I went to sleep as I did before. I turned on my machine as I did before. I slept till noon, like the day before.I turned on my machine, like the day before. And now ICS works again...Amazing.I never knew modern technology is capable of things like this...So to keep it not to happen again:I eighter should not ever go to sleep,or should not ever turn off my machine,or at least should not do this at the same time! Sorry for being a bit sarcastic, and I really appreciate your concern. It's reassuring to know, that helpfull guys ( or girls if that's the case ) like you indeed exists.By the way, if we have touched sharing, how can I make my unidentified network, which is (read-only)public, to become a home network, since that's the one connecting to my girlfriends laptop.

I suspect that the issue started to occur after some antivirus updates, system updates or driver updates were installed. Please download the latest drivers for both network adapters, then remove the drivers and install the new drivers. I the issue still occurs, temporary disable antivirus and firewall and check the result again. If the issue persists please remove anti-virus temporarily.Arthur Xie - MSFT
