I have 3 systems running xp sp3. First one is having Internet Connection using USB Modem. Now I want to share this with other two. First system having 2 LAN Cards. I don't have any switch or rowter. Is any solution to share this Connection. What is the procedure ?It is better if you bought a router and used this instead or a switch, forbetter security and performance too.But if you still would like to go a head here are some steps to perform andhopefully you will get Internet Connectionsharing up and running:How to set up a ICS :Hardware:- Three Computers ( Two of them will play the host, say A and B will be the same with NICs card, B will play the Host for the third PC (C) which will be the client.- The Host have Two NIC s- Cross-Over cable (if you will not use a hub with 10base-T/100base-T ,cat5, patch cable)- Client have a NIC installed and all TCP/IP , DNS configured to get theIP Auto.- Enabling the ICS on both the Host and the Client1 - How to set the Host:You need to set the Host first as the Host will play the Distributor Role inthe ICS so you need toset up correctly to allow ICS ;Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and internet connections >> NetworkConnections then Right click My network places and select Properties. Here you should see or have two internet connection one for your Internetconnection and one for your local Area Network (LAN).Right click Internet Connection and select properties. On the Properties Window click on Advanced Tab and check these boxes:Internet Connection Sharing:[ ] Allow other network users to connect through this computer's InternetConnection [ ] Allow other Network users to control or Disable the hared InternetConnection. Click [OK ] to Confirm your settings and close the Internet connection Window.2 - Setting up the Client:The same Go to the Control panel and Network Connections >> here at leastyou should have one Internet connection Icon or ServiceInstalled, if not then your NIC or hardware not installed and you need toinstall it configure it.On the Local Area Network Right click and select properties.Under general tab Highlight the Internet Protocol and click properties.* Client for Microsoft Networks* Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) 9If you don't have those then installthem)Make sure the Machine getting an Automatic IP, DNS then click Advanced andmake sure also that there is not an old settings and all the DNS, WINS IPfiltering are all empty and there are no entries.Troubleshooting Internet Connection Sharing in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/308006"Internet Connection Sharing with Windows XP by Sharon Crawford"http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/crawford_0...Service redirection does not apply to Internet Connection Firewallhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/297942Description of the Windows Firewall feature in Windows XP Service Pack 2http://support.microsoft.com/kb/843090Troubleshooting Windows Firewall in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/support/wftshoo...Here is a complete step-by-step on how to set up ICS:http://www.chicagotech.net/icssetup.htmTroubleshooting step by step:http://howtonetworking.com/Troubleshooting/notaccessibale0.htmnass -- http://www.nasstec.co.uk
