Internet Connection Issues
hello...a few days ago i attempted to set-up a server using my wireless internet modem. the purpose was to allow sharing of the printer throughout the house. i did this by using the network and sharing center and turning on sharing and discovery to full on all the computers i was trying to use.it worked, and the printer was usable by all computers, just by being connected to the main computer. however, once i set-up this connection, my laptop lost connection to the internet, but retained use of the server.i oppened the network and sharing center, and the icon showed something like this...Steve-Pc---------------------> PRID------------------X---------------> internet(my laptop) (my connection)my connection is secured with a WPA-personal password, and is set as a private connection. the internet is still working fine on the other computers in the network. i have tried deleting the connection from the database, and resetting it. i have also tried to reset the modem. neither of these worked.i have clicked on the X to see possible solutions. i have recieved many at different times. sometimes it tells me that 'windows found a problem that cannot be repaired automatically' and sometimes 'that the connection is weak'Please Help!!! and ideas that i could try would be very helpful!

Hi, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I will suggest the following: 1. Please update the NIC driver. 2. Please check the network settings: Please go to Control Panel Network Connections, right click on your connection and choose Properties. (if you have multiple connections, please check the one you use and disable the unnecessary ones. ) 1) On the Network Tab of your Connection properties, please choose Internet Protocol Version 4 and click "Properties. And then check if both of the IP Address and DNS are set to be delivered automatically. 2) If setting to obtain the IP Address and DNS automatically, please try to manually assign IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and the DNS settings referring to your routers settings to see if this works. Since the connection is wireless, please use a wired connection to see how it works then. You can also bypass the router to see if the connection works. If the issue persists, please run ipconfig /all on both the computer and post the reports to the thread for our further research. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
